Temperature Dependence of Transport Coe cients in

چکیده

We apply the mu n-tin e ective medium approximation to calculate the temperature dependence of the resistivity and thermopower of amorphous and liquid metals. The results show unambiguously that a large resistivity is accompanied by a negative temperature coe cient, in agreement with the experimental situation. This behavior is shown to result from a pseudo-gap which opens in the one-particle spectrum due to strong scattering at the quasi zone boundary and which tends to close under an increase in temperature. In turn the thermopower is found to have non-trivial density and temperature dependences. 2

Flexoelectric E ect in Biaxial Nematics

The exoelectric e ect provides a linear coupling between electric polarization and orientational deformation in liquid crystals. It in uences many electrooptical phenomena and it is used in some bistable nematic devices. A statistical theory of dipole exoelectric polarization in biaxial nematic liquid crystals is used to calculate temperature dependence of order parameters, elastic constants, a...

Mathematical Analysis of a Saint-venant Model with Variable Temperature

We investigate the derivation and the mathematical properties of a Saint-Venant model with an energy equation and with temperature-dependent transport coe±cients. These equations model shallow water °ows as well as thin viscous sheets over °uid substrates like oil slicks, atlantic waters in the Strait of Gilbraltar or °oat glasses. We exhibit an entropy function for the system of partial di®ere...

Advancements in accuracy of the alanine dosimetry system. Part 2. The in ̄uence of the irradiation temperature

Systematic measurements of the temperature coecient for alanine electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) response have been performed for irradiation in the temperature range (10±50)8C and in the absorbed dose range (1±100) kGy at the dose rate 9.5 kGy/h. During the Co -ray irradiation, -L-alanine dosimeters were kept in a sealed aluminum holder that provided an e€ective heat exchange with the te...

Weighted Median Predictive Techniques for Coe cient Estimation in NonGaussian Markov Random Fields

NonGaussian Markov image models are e ective in the preservation of edge detail in Bayesian formulations of restoration and reconstruction problems. Included in these models are coe cients quantifying the statistical links among pixels in local cliques, which are typically assumed to have an inverse dependence on distance among the corresponding neighboring pixels. Estimation of these coe cient...
